History of Bijli Mahadev

According to Hindu mythology, this Shiva Temple is related to the Kulant demon. Once he came to Kullu Village in the form of a Snake and obstructed the flow of the Beas River, which brings serious water issues to the village. To get rid of this Demon, villagers prayed to Lord Shiva, and the almighty god saved the villagers by killing Kulant. It is said that the nearby area of this place is made of demon bones and bodies. Mahadev had ordered Indra to cause lightning here every 12 years to protect everyone from any big calamity. The thing is observed by locals when devastation takes place and the Shiv lingam breaks into several parts.
